The launch of Drupal SEO Studio

I’m really excited to finally annouce the first part of a project I’ve been working on for a very long time. The first version of the brand new Drupal SEO Studio module is published now. It is the first part of a second big release (see further) later this year.

SEO Studio is a Drupal module designed to give webmasters insight into how their website pages are displayed across major social media platforms and search engines. By offering real-time previews of meta tags.

Drupal seo studio

A great new Metatag module for Drupal

SEO Studio acts as a layer on top of the existing Metatag module. Metatag is one of the best and widely used non-core modules. But it lacked a good user experience. Mostly it was hard for content editors to be able to detect issues concerning meta tags previews.

It is exactly there that SEO Studio closes the gap. With a new “SEO” tab next to the well known “View”, “Edit” and “Delete” tabs it is precisely where a more content-focused person would expect the meta information would be.

From a technical viewpoint you could see it as a visibility layer and easy detection mechanism: “it seems like I did not specify my image token correctly for my metatag image”, or “Apparently this page has no token set for the X platform (Twitter)”.

SEO Studio will bring "easy" AI metatag generation to Drupal

I believe the only AI integrations that will succeed are those that can be integrated just by enabling a module and filling in some keys. I’m currently working on SEO Studio API features that contain integration with Large Language Models (LLM’s) to auto-generate the metatags and meta images of a page. It works amazing in conjunction with SEO Studio.

In fact, I have quite a few production websites running on it already. I achieved “One-click SEO” with it. Imagine these features:

  1. AI-generated meta titles, descriptions, and stunning meta images.
  2. JSON-LD generation for improved structured data and search engine visibility.
  3. Bulk SEO updates to optimize multiple pages quickly.

You'd think this would end up in some poorly written stuff, but actually when you feed it some good context (site name, sector, ...) the results are amazing.

Make sure to keep an eye on both the Drupal SEO Studio module page as on the SEO Studio product page. You will be able to use the API keys of your own Large Language Models (LLM), and keep track of the amount of calls that are being made.

Not only for Drupal

As a lifelong Drupal engineer I could not other than first launch the platform for Drupal. But the API’s running behind SEO Studio API will be white label. This means that developers will be able to integrate the SEO capabalities in other platforms too. And even a Wordpress module is on the roadmap (Yes, to do that I will have to make my first ever Wordpress install ;-)).

To conclude, I’m pretty excited with this first partial launch. I love bringing ideas to execution and while it took more time than anticipated it will be worth it.

I look forward to getting feedback from the community.
